Year of ups and downs as Galway to launch ladies football supporters club

THE Galway Ladies Football AGM was held recently and prior to the commencement of the order of business, Chairperson Paul Gannon issued a warm welcome to Galway GAA CEO John Hynes and invited him to address the delegates.
In a positive address, Hynes reiterated his steadfast desire to forge closer unified links between the two Gaelic sporting associations. He congratulated Annaghdown on annexing the All Ireland Intermediate Club title and extended his best wishes to the incoming LGFA Executive for 2017.
The meeting then opened with the Chairperson's lengthy report on an eventful year which had its ups and downs. His comprehensive review was presented in a mixed bag format of acknowledgements, congratulations, regrets and disappointments, developmental initiatives and recommendations which left the attendees with both plenty to be proud of and plenty to ponder.
Edel De Paor was subsequently complimented on the forensic and transparent nature of her financial statement. She thanked all the clubs who weighed in behind the long established Night At The Dogs and Inaugural Hotel Breaks fundraisers and emphasised that 2017 would bring fresh financial challenges which would have to embraced with tenacity and vigour.
In this regard, the subsequent decision by the floor to fully endorse the Executive's Supporters Club proposal was undoubtedly the pivotal moment of the afternoon's proceedings as it was universally acknowledged that the establishment, construction, development and fine tuning of the club over the coming years could ultimately provide Galway LGFA with its own Centre of Excellence for all its county panels and county development squads.
Outgoing Secretary, Mags Fleming received a rapturous round of applause in recognition of her immense contribution on all levels and in all aspects throughout a busy and eventful year.
