WATCH: Micheal Donoghue reflects on Galway's Leinster Final win

“The number one target for us was winning Leinster. We’ve accomplished that now and we’ll let that sink in. We’ll get back to work during the week,” Galway senior hurling manager Micheal Donoghue told Tribune Sport after his side’s win over Dublin in the Leinster final.

Galway were crowned Leinster senior hurling champions for the first time since 2018 after a 4-29 to 4-15 win over Dublin last Saturday evening in Croke Park.

Micheal Donoghue’s side have now booked their place directly into the All-Ireland Hurling semi-final on Saturday July 4th at 3:30pm in Croke Park. Munster champions Limerick also booked their place into the other All-Ireland semi-final which takes place on Sunday July 5th.

Galway's All-Ireland semi-final opponents will be determined by the outcomes of the All-Ireland quarter-finals. Leinster finalists Dublin face Clare and Cork take on Offaly in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finalists next weekend.

“The opportunity to come back and play in an All-Ireland semi-final, they’re rare occasions. We had great support and hopefully we’ll get more in a month’s time. For us now, it’s just to enjoy the few days, get back to work and build up to what will hopefully be a good opportunity for us,” added Donoghue.
