’Wegians go clear after eight-try demolition of Bruff

Bruff 20
Galwegians 48
Galwegians cemented their position at the top of Ulster Bank League Division 2a when they routed a hapless Bruff side who were unable to cope with the pace and power of the on-form Blues at Kilballyowen Park on Saturday.
The Glenina scored eight tries in the game, with the first coming from prop Jason East in the 10th minute, and there were further first-half tries from Brian McClearn, Jerome Harrimate and Conor Muldoon. The visitors ran in another four tries in the second-half, with Colin Conroy, John Cleary and Ciaran Gaffney all crossing the line, while Harrimate grabbing his second of the game.
Ross Shaughnessy kicked three conversions, while Gaffney added a fourth, to leave the side four points clear at the top of the table at the half-way stage in the league.
Next up for the Blues is the Bateman Cup semi-final away to Division 1a side UCD in Belfield this Saturday. On this form the Blues will certainly fancy their chances of causing an upset.
