It is an exciting weekend for the camogie clubs across Galway, Roscommon and Mayo as they head to Connacht GAA Air Dome in Bekan for the Fr Vincent Lawless, the Pat Barrett, and the Rose Nixon cup finals this Saturday and Sunday.

It is an historic weekend for Connacht club camogie as the first Connacht camogie finals will be held in the iconic Dome, with the Rose Nixon final between Carnmore and Westport of Mayo the first final to be played on Saturday (3pm).

Carnmore, will be hoping to bounce back from their final defeat in Galway after a mixed campaign with three wins from five in the Junior B competition.

They had an under-par performance in the final but they will be hoping to show their strength when they take on a Westport side that had a tough battle with Roscommon Gaels on the way to the final. Even after extra time in the first semi-final, the sides could not be separated and a replay was require last Friday under lights in Bekan.

There was nothing between the sides heading into the half time break as Westport went in just one point in front, but they laid down a marker in the second-half, outscoring their opponents 1-4 to 0-3 in the second half as they ran out 1-7 to 0-5 winners on the night and they booked their place in this Saturday’s final.

The second final to take to the field on Saturday will be the Pat Barrett final when Liam Mellows take on Oran of Roscommon (5pm). Liam Mellows made it third time lucky in Galway as they captured the Junior A title that had eluded them in 2021 and 2022, and were one of the stand-out teams in the Galway Junior A Championship with some very convincing victories along the way.
