Referee appointed for Galway's Leinster Senior Hurling Championship clash with Offaly

THOMAS GLEESON will referee this Sunday’s Leinster Senior Hurling Championship clash between Galway and Offaly. Last weekend, the Dublin native took charge of the clash between Down and Antrim in the Joe McDonagh Cup.
This will be Gleeson’s first outing in the Leinster Hurling Championship this year. The round two Leinster Senior Hurling Championship fixture throws in at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoon at Pearse Stadium.
Galway got their Leinster SHC campaign off to the perfect start with a 3-25 to 1-16 victory over Kilkenny last weekend, while Offaly played out an entertaining 4-22 to 2-28 draw with Dublin in round one. Wexford make the trip to Kilkenny and Dublin host Kildare in the other two games in the Leinster SHC at the weekend.
The Tribsmen will be aiming to record their second victory of the campaign which will put them in a strong position with a break to come on the weekend on May 2nd/3rd.
After this weekend, Micheal Donoghue’s charges will play Kildare away on Saturday May 9th at 3:30pm in Newbridge. Galway then face Dublin at home on Saturday May 16th at 4:30pm and finish off their round-robin campaign away to Wexford on Sunday May 24th at 2pm.
At then end of the round-robin series, the top two teams will advance into the Leinster final which takes place on Saturday June 6th at 6pm in Croke Park. Third place in Leinster along with the runner-up of the Leinster final will join third place in Munster and the loser of the Munster final in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
Both of the provincial winners will book their places directly into the All-Ireland semi-finals.
