Galway senior football championship draw: Corofin and Claregalway drawn in group of death
THE GALWAY Senior and Intermediate Football Club Championship draw took place this evening in the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta studios.
Group One has all the ingredients of a group of death with four sides capable of challenging for a place in the knockout stages. Corofin, Killannin, Mountbellew-Moylough and Claregalway will each fancy their chances of progressing from what promises to be the championship's toughest group.
County finalists Salthill-Knocknacarra will face Milltown, Bearna and Caltra in Group Two. Both Milltown and Bearna will view the draw as a good opportunity to progress to the knockout stages, while Caltra will be hoping to get their campaign off to a strong start after winning the Intermediate Championship in 2025.
Reigning county champions Moycullen begin the defence of their title against Monivea-Abbey, Dunmore MacHales and Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir. Dunmore MacHales and Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir will both be eager to build on recent seasons in which they reached the knockout stages. Monivea-Abbey, who have been involved in the relegation semi-finals in recent years, will be hoping to make a stronger start this season.
In Group Four, Tuam Stars have been drawn with Annaghdown, St James and Oughterard. As county semi-finalists, Tuam Stars will be regarded as favourites to top the group, but they can expect stern tests from all three opponents.
