Galway learn All-Ireland senior hurling championship semi-final opponents

THE GALWAY senior hurlers will play Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday July 4th at 3:30pm.
Cork confirmed their place into the last four with a comprehensive 6-25 to 2-11 victory over Offaly this afternoon in the All-Ireland quarter-final at FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles. Brian Hayes, Alan Walsh and Shane Barrett all raised green flags for Ben O’Connor’ side as Cork bounced back impressiverly after suffering a narrow defeat to Limerick in the Munster final. Cork captain Darragh Fitzgibbon made his return from injury for The Rebels.
Munster champions Limerick will meet Clare in a local derby in the other All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday July 5th at 4pm in Croke Park. Clare defeated Dublin 0-29 to 0-16 in the All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday evening.
Micheal Donoghue’s charges ended their eight wait for a Leinster SHC title with a comfortable 4-29 to 4-15 win over Dublin and the men in maroon and white will come into the All-Ireland semi-final on the back of a four week break.
Rory Burke limped off with a hamstring injury in the first half during Galway’s win over Dublin in the Leinster final, while Daithi Burke battled on through injury after Donoghue and the medical team initially thought the ful back had dislocated his knee.
“He thought he actually dislocated it and went back again. That's just a testament to the man he is, he’s a bear,” said Donoghue when speaking about Daithi Burke’s injury after the Leinster final. The Galway manager will be hoping to have both players available for the All-Ireland semi-final.
