Galway ladies footballers learn venue for All-Ireland semi-final clash with Armagh

THE GALWAY senior ladies footballers will play Armagh next Saturday July 18th at 3:15pm in Glennon Brother’s Pearse Park, County Longford in the All-Ireland semi-final.
Galway ladies football manager Daniel Moynihan was pleased with his side’s display during their emphatic quarter final win over Mayo. The Ballinasloe clubman felt his players really upped their game in the third quarter and showed their full range of quality.
‘‘We were a bit sloppy in the first half, but in the second half we came out in the first minute and showed what we are capable of,’’ he said. ‘‘We were really delighted with our performance in the third quarter. We felt we really showed what we’re about during that spell.’’
‘‘We knew what Mayo were going to bring. For us, it was about stamping our authority in the third quarter. Look it [2-20] is an excellent score to put up in sixty minutes. What we scored in the second half [2-14] would be enough to win a lot of matches, so to get that in thirty alone was very satisfying.’’
Moynihan knows that Armagh will provide the Tribeswomen with their toughest challenge of 2026 and that the Ulster side will be just as hungry as Galway to reach the national decider. Reigning champions Dublin face Kerry in the the other All-Ireland semi-final at 5:15pm in FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles.
‘‘Our aim this year has always been to get back to Croke Park. We’re at the stage now where there are four teams left and they’re all saying the same thing. Armagh are an extremely high quality team with loads of top class players.’’
‘‘We’re well aware that its going to be a difficult task for us. It’s up to us to prepare as well as we can now and do our homework. Hopefully, all going well, we can get the win on the day,’’ he added.
