HAS a Galway team playing in an All-Ireland final ever displayed such guts as Cathal Murray’s lionhearted warriors at Croke Park on Sunday?

Rocked by a Caitriona Mackey rasper in the 49th minute to leave them trailing Cork by three points, it appeared a herculean Tribeswomen effort was about to fall short on camogie’s biggest day.

The Rebels now had all the momentum after rallying from an early four-point deficit, but Galway simply refused to yield as players in maroon jerseys regalvanised to push already tired bodies to the point of exhaustion.

With Player of the Match Aoife Donohue finding incredible reserves of energy, it was left to the McGrath sisters, Siobhan and Orlaith, to come up with the priceless late scores to secure Galway a memorable fourth All-Ireland triumph.
