SIX GALWAY hurling stars were named on the GAA.ie team of the week.
Darach Fahy, Cillian Trayers, Darren Morrissey, Ronan Glennon, Gavin Lee and Jason Rabbitte were all named on the team of the week.
Galway goalkeeper Darach Fahy made some crucial saves during Galway’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final. Fahy pulled off two crucial saves from a Diarmuid Healy shot in the first half and a shot from Shane Barrett in the second half. Cillian Trayers’ man marking job on Cork sharpshooter Brian Hayes proved significant in the second half and played a huge factor in the Tribesmen getting over the line and booking their place into the All-Ireland final.
Galway captain Darren Morrissey made the switch out to the half back line. Morrissey did a terrific man marking job on Cork forward Shane Barrett and even chipped in with a point. Arguably Ronan Glennon had been one of Galway’s best performers in 2026. The Mullagh clubman finished with 0-3 from play and his pace going forward has put forwards on the back foot throughout the championship.
After not starting the Leinster final, Gavin Lee also came back into the starting XV. The Galway midfielder scored two points from play. Jason Rabbitte chipped in with 0-3 from play and he caused the Cork full back line plenty of problems. Rabbitte was awarded the RTE man of the match award for his performance.
