Sales booming despite Covid

Despite Covid-19, auctioneers are reporting a busy property sales period, with strong interest already in an auction taking place next month.
Shane May of the Connacht Property Auction – whose next auction takes place on September 17 – reported “extremely busy” market conditions since they reopened for viewings in early June.
“We have been seeing a lot of pent-up demand for properties since re-opening for viewings. We are seeing a strong appetite for all types of properties particularly family homes both rural and more urban.
“July was our busiest month of the year in terms of sold properties, surpassing very strong figures from the start of the year and the market conditions for selling is very positive,” he said.
Mr May added that the company’s regular online auctions are proving one of the most effective routes to sale with an increasing number of transactions taking place over the past few weeks and indeed months.
“The security of selling by auction with binding bids and fixed timeframes has become a more important element for sellers and buyers alike. All parties to the sale want security and speed and that is something the auction platform can provide where the normal sales process does not”.
Among the properties listed for the next auction are:
Derryhiveny South, Portumna. Offered at bids over €245,000 in partnership with RE/MAX Galway, this is a fine four-bed detached dormer bungalow located just eight minutes from Portumna and all the ample amenities it offers. The house is laid out in an L-shape, a deceptively large dormer presented in excellent condition and offers an abundance of living space. It sits on a 0.54-acre site with manicured lawns, an array of mature trees shrubs and fruit trees, a block built shed and three timber garden sheds.
3 Ti Na Ri, Loughrea. Offered at bids over €280,000 in Partnership with Keary Auctioneers, this is a four-bed detached property, situated in a small estate of just 32 houses. It is one of only two detached houses in the estate and is offered in excellent condition both internally and externally. It also benefits from a detached home office to the rear of the main house as well as a garden shed, a stone patio area and a lovely decking just outside the back door.
