A Dutch hiker had to be rescued off a mountain in Connemara National Park last evening.

The woman in her 50s injured her ankle just below the summit of Diamond Hill around 7pm.

She had been travelling with a party of around 12 people who had their own tour guide.

The guide raised the alarm and Gardai in Clifden notified Galway Mountain Rescue Service.
