WINTER MAINTENANCE FUNDING FOR GALWAY ROADS

Almost 88 thousand euro in government funding has been allocated to Galway roads.

Under the Winter Maintenance Programme, Galway's county road network has been granted 84 thousand euro.

This represents a 15 percent increase to this year's original allocation of over 600 thousand euro.

Galway city is also to benefit with a further allocation of 3 thousand euro.

It had been granted 24 thousand in the initial allocation round.

Galway East Labour TD Colm Keaveney has welcomed the announcement which he says will make the county's road networks safer.
