A new twist is in store on the weather front

Met Eireann has updated its forecast for the week with a big change in store as things stay relatively dry.

Monday will see cloud and rain in the west and spreading to most areas by the afternoon. It will be heavy at times with thundery pours possible too.

Sunny spells and scattered showers will persist as the day goes on with temperatures of 19C following to as low as 9C but staying drier overnight with the odd shower and wind.

Here’s what Met Eireann is forecasting for the start of the rest of the week:

Overview: “Mixed conditions in store as we go through this week, some spells of rain or showers at times, but generally a good deal of dry and bright weather too. Temperatures remain around average.”

Tomorrow: “A blustery day with sunny spells, scattered showers and a fresh and gusty west to northwest wind. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent over the northern half of the country. The showers will become more isolated everywhere by evening as winds gradually ease too. Feeling cooler tomorrow in highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.”

Tuesday night: “Showers will gradually die out leaving a dry mainly night as skies clear and winds weaken. Staying cloudy in the west with the odd isolated shower possible overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.”

Wednesday: “A bright and dry start apart from a few stray light showers, but turning cloudier through the day as cloud pushes in from the west. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees in light westerly winds backing southwesterly through the day.”

Thursday: “Outbreaks of rain continuing at first Thursday with cloud and a more persistent spell of rain pushing in from the west and spreading across the country through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in moderate southerly winds.”
