There will be a major switch on the weather front

Temperatures are set to exceed past 20C on Friday and over the weekend as we see the last of the summer sunshine in between the drops of rain, according to Met Eireann.

The National Forecaster is saying that Friday will be generally dry with sunny spells and just the odd light shower disrupting things in the west.

There will be outbreaks of cloud and rain towards nightfall as temperatures of 20C drop to as low as 10C overnight.

It will be wet and breezy throughout Friday night as rain spreads through the west but becoming dry again by Saturday morning.

Here’s Met Eireann’s weekend weather forecast:

Overview: “Mixed conditions for the remainder of the weekend and into next week. Dry and bright periods will be interspersed with wet or showery ones. Breezy at times too. Turning cooler from Tuesday onwards.”

Tomorrow: “Continuing wet and breezy in the morning. While the rain will clear southwards through the morning, it may linger in the south for much of the day. Further north, drier conditions will develop with scattered showers and possibly some brighter spells following the clearance of the rain. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds easing with the clearance of the rain.”

Saturday night: “Any lingering rain in the south should clear early in the night, leaving a mostly dry night with a mix of cloud and clear spells and just the odd light shower about. Some mist and fog patches will develop as winds ease light and variable overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.”

Sunday: “Staying dry for many with just a few light showers about. While it will be quite cloudy, some sunny spells will break through at times. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, coolest in Ulster, with a light to moderate south to southwest breeze.”

Sunday night: “Starting off mostly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells and just a few showers about. Outbreaks of rain will arrive into Atlantic coastal areas towards morning. A mild night with lowest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees, with a light to moderate south to southwest breeze.”
