Met Eireann has issued a yellow weather warning for 12 hours in Galway.

Met Eireann is warning: “A spell of heavy rain, with thunderstorms possible. Potential impacts include localised flooding; difficult travelling conditions and lightning damage.

The rest of Met Eireann’s forecast is as follows:

Friday: “A bright and generally dry day with sunny spells and just the odd light shower about, especially in the west and northwest. Cloud will thicken near western Atlantic coasts later in the evening, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle following towards nightfall. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, coolest in the northwest, with a light westerly breeze, backing southerly through the day and freshening in the west in the evening.”

Saturday: “Continuing wet and breezy in the morning. While the rain will clear southwards through the morning, it may linger in the south for much of the day. Further north, drier conditions will develop with scattered showers and possibly some brighter spells following the clearance of the rain. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds easing with the clearance of the rain.”

Sunday: “Staying dry for many with just a few light showers about. While it will be quite cloudy, some sunny spells will break through at times. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, coolest in Ulster, with a light to moderate south to southwest breeze.”

Monday: “Current indications are for a wet and breezy start to the day with widespread rain, turning heavy and persistent at times. The rain will clear eastwards through the afternoon, with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, veering westerly with the clearance of the rain.”
