Visiting Restrictions remain in place at University Hospital Galway this weekend.

Chief Operating Officer Galway and Roscommon hospitals Tony Canavan is also appealing to the public not to bring children to the hospital and to adhere strictly to visiting restrictions and hygiene guidelines.

Tony Canavan says UHG is under tremendous pressure and they simply can not afford to lose beds because of virus outbreaks.

He's asking people who have diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 2 days or if anyone in your household had those illnesses not to visit the hospital.

Mr Canavan stresses all appropriate infection control measures are being taken to deal with the situation and the visiting restrictions will remain in place this weekend.
