TUAM CUT OUT OF NATIONAL LITTER LEAGUE

Date Published: 26-Apr-2012

The IBAL litter league will not include Tuam this year.

The decision to cut Tuam and ten other towns from the 20-12 litter survey was made following Government cutbacks to the scheme.

The criteria used were largely based on the towns population.

Ballinasloe was cut from the IBAL litter league several years ago.

The omission of Tuam means the city is now the only Galway representation among 42 towns and cities that will be surveyed this year.

However, it's expected that Tuam will make it back into the league next year.

IBAL chairman Dr. Tom Kavanagh is critical of the decision to omit towns from the survey.
