TRIAL FOR HAVING FIREARMS IN ORANMORE

A 42-year-old Spiddal man has been remanded in custody to await trial later this year charged with firearms offences.
Kieran Smyth, of Park, Spiddal appeared in custody before Galway District Court, where a book of evidence was served on him.
He faces two charges of having firearms in his possession under suspicious circumstances at Carrowmoneash, Oranmore on March 3, 2003.
Judge Mary Fahy refused bail and she sent Smyth forward in custody to Galway Circuit Criminal Court on October 6 next.
