TRIAL FOR CITY MAN ON ASSAULT CHARGES

A 64-year-old city man has been sent forward for trial charged with the sexual abuse to two children over a 20-year period.

The man, who can't be named for legal reasons, faces eleven sample charges of indecently assaulting one girl between January 1982 and December 1986 at a house in the city.

He is further charged with four counts of raping the second child at another location in 1998 and 1999.

Judge Mary Fahy sent the man, who's on bail, forward for trial to Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing on May 1st next.
