Trainer Kelly back in Ballybrit limelight
Date Published: 12-Sep-2007
CRAUGHWELL’S Pat Kelly, who has twice saddled the winner of the Guinness Galway Hurdle in the past, was back in the Ballybrit limelight with King Ali on Tuesday, the third and final day of the track’s September meeting. The progressive five-year old had easily won a maiden hurdle over the same three mile trip on his previous outing at Kilbeggan recently and Tom Doyle’s mount was always travelling well in the Brooks Galway Handicap Hurdle.Moody Lad had taken the field along at a moderate gallop, but King Ali dashed into the lead at the second last and was never in danger of being caught, holding a three lengths margin over Rapid Flyer at the line. The winner is owned by Galway golf professional Declan Cunningham.
