Gemma Hayes plays a rare acoustic show in the Róisín Dubh on Saturday, 16th January.

Hailing from Tipperary, Gemma is a singer-songwriter and producer, known for her eclectic blend of folk, prog rock and electronica. She burst onto the music scene with her debut album Night on My Side, which was nominated for the UK's prestigious Mercury Music Prize. She followed that up with a win in the Best Female Artist category at the Hot Press Awards.

Since then Gemma has been garnering much international recognition, releasing two other albums and touring extensively. She has written songs with Adam Druitt of Counting Crows and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine. Her music has been featured on a multitude of films and television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, ER, and Mr And Mrs Smith.

Gemma recently started recording her fourth album in Los Angeles and France with long-time producer, and ex-Frames guitarist, David Odlum.

“Being in Los Angeles has made me respect and love acoustic music more than ever,” Gemma says.

“There’s a ghost in Los Angeles of Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash. All of that is very much alive up in the Canyon. It’s kind of revived my love in my folk music.”

Doors 9pm, tickets €16/€14.
