Date Published: 16-Dec-2011

Residents in the city and county and particularly the elderly are being warned against bogus callers to their homes over the Christmas.

They people gain entry by claiming to be from organisations or other groups and go on to steal items or cash from the home.

One of the most serious cases in Galway in recent weeks involved callers to a house pretending to be members of An Garda Síochana.
