St. Joseph's Care Centre in Tuam to close in June
Galway Bay fm newsroom - St. Joseph's Care Centre at the Presentation Convent in Tuam is to close in June.
The decision to wind-down operations at the nursing home follows a strategic review of services.
St. Joseph's Care Centre was converted to a nursing home by the presentation sisters' northern province in 1993 and provides care for nuns from the presentation order.
It is currently running at 50 percent of its overall capacity.
The gradual wind-down will begin this month and is set to reach completion in June.
Sister now resident at the facility will be relocated to the order's nursing home in Kilcock or to a private nursing home of thier choosing.
A spokesperson for the order says the decision will also have implications for staff who are now being consulted.
