Galway's hotel sector has reported good occupancy levels over St. Patrick's weekend, however the overall spend was down on previous years.
Many overseas visitors came to the city to celebrate Ireland's national day, the majority were from the US followed by tourists from Germany and France.
Failte Ireland surveyed the city's top ten main hotels with most reporting high occupancy on Friday night and full occupancy on both Saturday and Sunday.
The group also says a large share of hotel residents were domestic visitors.
Eva Dearie is Failte Ireland Client Services Manager for Galway City and says that despite the slight dip in revenues over Patrick's weekend, the local hotel sector is optimistic ahead of the Easter season.
