SOME RELIEF FOR GALWAY HOUSEHOLDERS OVER TANK CHARGE

Date Published: 07-Sep-2011
There's some relief for more than 30 thousand householders in Galway with the announcement that there will be no septic tank inspection charge.
A series of meetings took place over the past few weeks, organised by MEP Marian Harkin to discuss the impact of a European ruling on septic tanks in Ireland.
Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan has announced that there will be no inspection charge.
Marian Harkin says it's welcome news, but it's not the end of the situation- other charges could be on the way.
Meanwhile, a public meeting is due to take place this coming Friday at 8.30p.m at the Station House Hotel in Clifden.
It's organised by the Fianna Fáil West Comhairle Ceantair to discuss septic tank provision, maintenance and upgrading costs in rural areas.
