SIX PER CENT HIKE IN COMMERCIAL RATE IN LOUGHREA

At the annual budget meeting of Loughrea Town Council this week a rate of 3 euro and one cent was adopted for the coming year, an increase of six per centBut Ballinasloe rate payers could possibly be facing a rate of fifty two euro if they accept the managers recommendation at next tuesdays (18th Dec) town council meeting.The huge difference in rates is because Loughrea Town Council is financially assisted by Galway County Council while Ballinasloe is not.
