SENATOR CALLS FOR CLARITY ON ALLOCATION OF ATHENRY MAINTENANCE WORKER POST

There are calls for a review of the provision of a full-time maintenance post in the Athenry area.
Galway East Labour Senator Lorraine Higgins says the council has relocated the post to Oranmore.
She says the position must be restored to enable the continued work of the local Tidy Towns Committee in addressing potential litter issues and bringing a fresh and vibrant look to the town.
She says the population of around five thousand people reflects the need for a full-time post.
