SECOND DAY OF INQUEST INTO DEATH OF SAVITA HALAPPANAVAR
Day two of the inquest into the death of Savita Halappanavar is to resume later this morning.
Praveen Halappanavar concluded his statement yesterday before Galway West Coroner Dr.
Ciaran MacLoughlin.
Consultant obstetrician, Dr Katherine Astbury, who treated Savita is expected to be among the witnesses to give evidence today.
31 year old Savita died at UHG on October 28th last year after suffering a miscarriage and contracting septicaemia.
Dr Astbury is the doctor, who according to Praveen Halappanavar, refused to terminate Savita's pregnancy telling her this is a Catholic country.
Meanwhile, the HSE has asked that respect for hospital staff be maintained as many have been experiencing distress as a result written and verbal abuse.
