Rugby hero makes birthday boy’s day!

A young Connacht Rugby fan in Corrandulla enjoyed a birthday to remember last week – when one of the club’s home-grown stars phoned to personally wish him a happy birthday.

Aaron Hogan turned eight last Friday, but because of Government guidelines on ‘physical distancing’ he could not have his friends over for a birthday party.

To compensate, his father, Frank Hogan, who is originally from Salthill, put a call out on social media to see if anyone could contact Connacht full-back Tiernan O’Halloran to see if he would be willing to ring his son.

Aaron, his older brother Seán, and Frank are season ticket holders at Connacht Rugby – and Clifden’s O’Halloran is their favourite player.

With the help of a Connemara page on Facebook, Frank managed to track down Tiernan O’Halloran’s mother, Máire, who set-up the phone-call.

The Connacht star duly phoned Aaron on Friday – and it made his day that little bit special.
