RTE CLAIM TEACHER BACKED STORY IN AHASCRAGH PRIEST DEFAMATION

RTE has claimed that a former headmistress, at a school where Ahascragh priest Fr Kevin Reynolds had taught in Kenya, had confirmed their story.

The State broadcaster falsely alleged that he raped and fathered the child of a teenage girl in Kenya and has since apologised for grossly defaming him.

Reports in today's Sunday Times state that the story was backed by a headmistress of a school in western Kenya.

The Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has ordered an independent inquiry into the case by RTE's Prime Time programme.
