RTE ADOPTS OMBUDSMAN'S RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER DEFAMING AHASCRAGH PRIEST

RTÉ is to adopt recommendations from the Press Ombudsman after his review of the Primetime programme, which defamed the parish priest of Ahascragh.

Last month the State broadcaster settled with Fr. Kevin Reynolds for an undisclosed sum after it broadcast the 'Mission to prey' programme which made false allegations against the priest.

Press Ombudsman John Horgan carried out an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the defamatory programme.

He presented his recommendations to the Board of RTÉ yesterday in respect of its editorial process.
