ROUNDSTONE ECONOMY UNDER THREAT OVER ATM REMOVAL

The removal of an ATM from a village in Connemara will have a negative effect on the local economy, according to a local shop owner.
Michael Reynolds, who owns Ferrons grocery shop, claims that a threat by Bank Of Ireland to remove the ATM in his shop would mean tourists will spend their money elsewhere.
According to today's Irish Times, if the ATM is removed from Roundstone, people will have to travel 8 kilometres to Ballyconneely to withdraw money.
Mr. Reynolds says many local B&Bs don't have a credit card service and rely on tourists being able to go to the local shop to get cash.
Bank of Ireland says decisions of this nature are only taken after considerable debate.
