ROSSAVEAL HARBOUR FACING HUGE PRICE HIKE FOR YACHT BERTHS

Date Published: 07-Apr-2012
Rossaveal harbour is one of six in the country facing a huge increase in charges for yacht berthing
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is proposing increased charges of up to 800 per cent under a planned new law
Under the new terms a 10 metre yacht, which paid an average 312 euro a year for a berth would pay up to 2,500 euro a year
The draft regulations also stipulate that water and electricity charges, which are normally included in marina fees, will now be extra
Passenger boats with 13 to 99 people will also be hit as they will have to pay 4,600 euro a year in advance at Rossaveal, Killybegs, Dingle, Castletownbere, Dunmore East and Howth
