Donegal outfit Rory & the Island will play Monroe’s Live on this Sunday, November 25.

Singer-songwriter, Rory Gallagher, originally from Kilcar and now living in Lanzarote first came to public attention as the bass player and lead vocalist with pop/punk group The Revs. The group took an ‘indefinite’ break in 2007, since when Rory has enjoyed a successful solo career. His songs, Colours, Champagne Lifestyle on Coca Cola Wages, The Battle to Stay Positive and Jimmy's Selling Watches have all been in the top 20 of the iTunes charts.

Last April Rory & the Island shot straight in at number five in the Irish iTunes rock charts with the Boys in Green, an anthem for the Irish soccer team for the Euro 2012 tournament. The track was a spur of the moment bit of fun performed with Sharon Shannon a few months earlier and was released for the Myasthenia Gravis charity, backed by Irish Football legend Ronnie Whelan.

More recently, Rory has rocked to fame as the singer and songwriter of the famous song Jimmy's Winning Matches, based on Jimmy’s Selling Watches, which was the anthem for Donegal’s victory in the 2012 All Ireland Football Championships and became a radio and internet sensation.
