Land in Oranmore must be rezoned if a new school is to be built in the area.

A planning application was submitted to Galway County Council in July for a new school for Gaelscoil de hÍde.

However, Deputy Noel Grealish says the land is zoned as recreation and amenity and needs to be changed to 'community facility'.

The zoning change to the Oranmore local area plan must then be agreed by County Councillors.
