REDUCING OUTPATIENT WAITING LISTS TOP PRIORITY FOR HSE WEST

Date Published: 27-Sep-2012
The HSE West has vowed to tackle the problem of outpatient waiting lists at the city's public hospitals.
At this week's meeting of the Regional Health Forum, Bill Maher, CEO of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospital Group, said reducing outpatient waiting lists is his biggest focus for the next 12 months.
Currently, almost 41 thousand people are on outpatient waiting lists at University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park.
Councillor Padraig Conneely, who's Chairman of the HSE Regional Health Forum West, says major improvements were made with inpatient waiting lists this year and now the same has to be done with outpatient waiting times.
