PUBLIC TO AIR CONCERNS OVER PROPOSED REMOVAL OF KIRWAN ROUNDABOUT

Date Published: 03-Sep-2012
Locals are set to air their concerns this Wedneday over controversial plans to remove the Kirwan roundabout at the Menlo Park Hotel.
A draft variation to the city development plan for the proposed changeover to a signalised junction is now on public display.
This would see the diversion of a road from the Menlo Park Hotel grounds through to the Headford road.
City Councillors voted 9 to 6 in favour of removing the Kirwan roundabout in May.
Ten local residents associations have now come together against the plans and have also passed a unanimous motion to reject the changeover outright.
They have invited city officials and local councillors to a meeting on Wednesday evening at 8 in the Menlo Park Hotel, where they will highlight their opposition.
Peter Cunnane is spokesperson and says the primary concern relates to access issues under the proposed layout.
