PUBLIC MEETING OFFERS ALTERNATIVE TO AUSTERITY

The Galway branch of the United Left Alliance will hold a public meeting on austerity in the university this week.Those gathered will hear speakers discuss political and economic alternatives to the current austerity path the Irish government is following. The meeting will be addressed by economist Terrence McDonagh, who has consistently argued against austerity; Cian Prenderville, a campaigner aginst the controversial household charge; and economics lecturer Brian O'Boyle.According to the United Left Alliance, a political part formed to fight last yea'rs general election, there are alternatives to austerity.
