Proposed site for new Bullaun school gets green light

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The proposed site for a new national school for Bullaun has passed an evaluation by the Department of Education. The 3.16 acre site, located on the Loughrea Road, was supplied by a patron to the school and has been been confirmed as ‘very suitable' by engineers from the building unit of the department. Consultations are now taking place with the schools principal and board of management to establish the design of the new school before planning permission is sought. The current school, located on a 0.6 acre site, is a three classroom building with a further four classrooms in prefabs. The number of students at the school has increased from thirty nine to one hundred and eighty seven since the year 2000. It is expected that the new school will be an eight classroom development. Principal Fergal Connaire says the news that the site has been deemed suitable is a big relief to the community.
