A proposal to convert a disused historic house in the city into office space for the city council has been rejected.
Comerford House which is located beside the Spanish Arch in Fishmarket Square is currently in need of repair work.
It had been used for office accomodation and as the original city museum.
The City Council's proposal to covert the building was rejected by the Recreation, Amenity and Culture SPC at a meeting this week.
City Councillor Padraig Conneely, who chairs the committee, told Galway Bay fm news that it's a ludicrous suggestion.
