Prepare for the return of D'Unbelievables

There are some things that are just right together– toast and butter, sun and sea, winter and fires... Jon Kenny and Pat Shortt.
The two, who cheered up the country throughout the 1990s as D’Unbelievables, are now reuniting for a one-off nationwide tour from January to April 2011 titled One Hell Of A Do! They’ll be in Galway’s Leisureland on April 8 and 9 and Mayo’s TF Royal Theatre before that, on March 25 and 26.
D’Unbelievables enjoyed almost cult status in their heyday with their high-energy live shows entertaining thousands with glimpses inside the surreal, slightly creepy and downright hilarious side of Irish rural society.
Originally formed in the late 1980s in Limerick, Jon Kenny and Pat Shortt created their sometimes scandalous, always uproarious on-stage characters in D’Unbelievables to wickedly echo those to be seen on every street corner and in every pub in Ireland. After touring extensively all over Ireland for almost a decade both men went their separate ways in 2000, exploring independent careers in TV, movies and music. Up until now, a comeback was usually given a “never say never” response when either Pat or Jon was asked, but they both now feel the time is right.
“We have met up regularly over the past few years and have often thought seriously about bringing all these wild characters back to life,” says Jon. “We both felt that now was the time, and we can’t wait. It’s going to be great – hard work, but great!”
Pat agrees.
“The show is a high energy act and we’re both getting on so if we were ever going to do it, we had to do it now! We are both very excited about it and we are having great craic rehearsing together again.”
And they intend to have ‘great craic’ at the end of their tour as the final two performances are in Leisureland.
