Portumna to host national forestry demonstration

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A national demonstration on the thinning of broadleaf trees will take place in Portumna next week. (17/6) The event is organised by Teagasc Forestry Development Department, and will focus on the long-term quality of Alder and Sycamore trees. Woodland owners are encouraged to attend to learn about the thinning process and how to effectively extract timber from their own woodlands. Interested participants are asked to gather at Tiernascragh Community Hall in Ballycrissane between 11am and 12.30pm on Tuesday June 17th. Forestry Development Officer with Teagasc, Noel Kennedy, says thinning is an important process in ensuring the future health of woodland areas.
