Plans to extend Carrownurlaur realignment scheme to Ballindine
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans to extend the N17 Carrownurlaur realignment scheme are to go on public display in the next few weeks. The plans to extend the scheme north to the village of Ballindine were presented at a meeting of Tuam Municipal District this week. The realignment will involve 2.4 kilometres of road and is being led through the Part 8 planning process by ROD Civil Engineering Consultants. Cllr Sean Canney questioned if cycle lanes or pedestrian walkways could be incorporated, while Cllr Michael Fitzmaurice asked if road widening could be rethought to plan for future infrastructure. Members were advised that all impacted landowners have been contacted and it's hoped planning should be in place by October. A public consultation process will get underway shortly. Senior Engineer at Galway Roads Office Michael Timmins says the project will ensure the safe movement of traffic along the route.
