PLANS TO CLOSE HOSPITAL 2 MERLIN PARK

In a further blow to the Health service in Galway, it's been revealed there's a proposal to close Hospital 2 in Merlin Park. This cut would mean 24 Orthopaedic beds currently used for elective hip, knee, spinal, and hand and foot surgery would close. There are 2,000 patients currently waiting to be seen in Galway in these categories, up to a third of whom are likely to need surgery
