Physical power to edge it for Salthill in Galway decider

Loughrea has been shortlisted in the national competition for smarter travel areas.

It is one of eleven centres to qualify for stage two of the scheme, which encourages people to leave their cars at home and opt to walk, cycle or use the bus for short journeys.

At this weeks meeting of Loughrea town council, councillors were told that a successful bid could net the town five million euro.
