OUT OF HOURS ROSCOMMON PATIENTS TO ATTEND GALWAY HOSPITALS

Out of hours patients in Roscommon will be forced to travel to hospitals in Galway and other surrounding counties from today, as the opening hours at the urgent care unit are halved from 24 to 12.

The service was set up last month to replace Roscommon Hospital's A and E department which was closed down by the HSE - who deemed it unsafe.

Around 15 hundred people took part in protests over the weekend to oppose the decision.

The Roscommon Hospital Action Commitee says the Government is putting lives at risk.
