ORANMORE COUPLE AT CENTRE OF SAMOAN RESCUE OPERATION

Date Published: 30-Sep-2009
An Oranmore couple are at the centre of the rescue operation in Samoa in the Pacific ocean where a tsunami has killed more than 100 people. Villages in Samoa and American Samoa have been flattened, fishing boats hurled ashore and cars overturned. Husband and wife John Clancy, who's an IT expert, and Madeleine Rabbitt, who's a nurse, are working with the Red Cross to help survivors. Emergency teams are now searching remote coastal areas for victims.
