The Minister for the Office of Public Works has given a commitment that pressure will be put on companies to provide Galway homeowners with flood insurance.

The comments were made in response to Galway West TD Eamon O' Cuív who said that homeowners in Carnmore and Lisheenavally were still unable to get insurance.

Speaking in the Daíl, Minister Brian Hayes said his office had held talks with the Irish insurance federation.

He also highlighted a new protocol to deal with home insurance currently being worked on by government.
