O'CUIV TO DECIDE ON FUTURE IN FIANNA FAIL

Deputy Eamon Ó Cuív says he will announce this afternoon [May 8] whether or not he's decided to leave the party.

The Galway West TD has been given a directive by the Party Whip not to take part in any radio or television interviews that would advocate a "No" vote in the referendum on the European Fiscal Treaty.

All other Fianna Fáil TDs and Senators have agreed to campaign for a YES vote in the referendum.

The letter sent to Mr Ó'Cuív featured reminders about a pledge signed by TDs to adhere to party policy.

The former Minister is considering his position at the moment and he is expected to reply to the letter today.
